The Old Pueblo: At the Zoo
This week, I'm in my hometown of Tucson, Arizona, for my son's 23rd birthday. Tucson has some interesting quirks, and while Walmart is always quirky, the Old Pueblo* levels it up.
PJ wanted to buy himself a birthday present, so we "went to the zoo" He, a member of the Liberal Gun Club, was buying some bullets ( .22s, I think) and the lady behind the counter carded BOTH of us! I pointed out that I wasn't buying them (I don't even own a firearm) but she said she had to card me, too, because we were together(!).
So did something I've done many times that always gets a laugh: I gave her my library card - which of course has no address or birthdate, and this one happens to be expired. She took a moment to read it, then just accepted it, without hesitation and no questions asked. PJ and I made it about 20 feet before we were unable to refrain from busting up laughing.

* Pueblo means village in Spanish.
