Day 7 - 7.5: Pittsburgh & Philadelphia
Pittsburgh was a crazy maze of scrambled roads under construction. Patrick loathed it instantly, and Caitlin did a superb job of trying not to get lost in the black rain. But I loved it - I was intrigued with the ferns and trees growing straight out of the vertical coal black cliffs. I don't know why but I loved it. Probably because I was neither driving nor navigating. We got in very late and were too tired for any kind of goofing around. Besides, I had a job interview on the phone the next morning, which went very well and resulted in an invitation to a come to Boston for an in-person interview to meet the team! Synchronicity was afoot - this was ostensibly a subsidiary of Thomson Reuters where I'd spent the last 15 months and talking with the manager felt very much like talking to my favorite people at TR (you know who you are!) He snuck in a Lord of the Rings reference in, as well as a pun as bad as the title of this blog. :) My kinda guy!
The road to Philly was wet, hilly and foresty, and mired in toll booths. It was fun!

Philly was gorgeous, charming, mixed and personable.

After staying the night with Caitlin, we had one last breakfast together in City Center with Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson.
